TZT14 charts activation

Hi all,

Just joined the club and this is my first topic

I bought a pre-owned TZT14 that was removed from a big boat and try to run it at home before fitting onto my boat. I have no cables, no GPS antenna and no network connected. Just a bare unit hooked in 12v. The software version is something very outdated, like V1.4 or something.

My problem is that I find no detailed charts on the unit. All without exception chars are very gross and when zooming no details are there. I was digging into the settings and found that there is a huge collection of charts including the UK 1.1GB with photos and so on, all charts are unlocked but no way to get them detailed.

Is there any particular way to chose and select one chart so I can navigate with or anything else to do? My be software update will fix it? If so, I find strange that the previous boat was using all the charts with the older software and no issues. Or I need a GPS sender to satart using detailed charts? Cannot figure out.

In the USA, where this forum is based, all TZT units are shipped with an SD card containing the full NOAA catalog of raster and vector charts unlocked and usable. In addition we include many "pay for charts" from Jeppesen and other sources. Here is what is included:

They are purchased with an unlock code.

If original owner was outside the USA you might not have the SD card installed. If you are outside the USA or Canada please contact your local Furuno agent for assistance in getting charts for the unit. I would also suggest that you download the user manual whoch can be found here:
