TZT12f making noise

I installed 2 furuno tzt12f on my boat. One of the units is making a humming noise when turn on. I assume it's the fan motor. I tried switching all the wires on the two TZT12f to make sure it wasn't a grounding issue and the same unit is still making the noise. Why would the fan motor be coming on during initial power up and staying on? Doesn't seem normal, any help would be much appreciated.

My unit has a similar annoying low-grade hum when powered on. I was told it was the internal fan. Unsure why there would be disparity between your units. Will await others comments.

Mounting can cause things to resonate so sounds can vary from install to install. There is an internal fan and it is normal to hear it to some degree. If the fan has a problem with its speed or stops turning the display will throw a "Fan Speed" alarm that you can't miss. I would review the mounting and ensure nothing is binding into the case and if resonating, you might need to add some cushion foam to quiet the console. If you have a very noisy fan that works but really abnormal it could always been sent in for repair evaluation and a new fan installed. Because the units have two year of warranty (three years if purchased from FUSA from May 2020 to Dec 2020 and registered within 90 days), you might wait until a convenient time to send it in. The fan shouldn't keep you from fishing unless you start seeing some alarms.

Thanks for the reply, it’s definitely not the mounting of the units. I removed both units an I still have the noise coming from just one unit. Does anybody know if there’s a setting that controls the fan motor, or anyway to check to make sure it’s the fan running. I would hate to permanently mount the tzt3 just to have issues on the water
