It is difficult for me to tell in those photos with the glare and I don't want to make a guess. Is it possible to get a clear photo of screenshot of the bottom image?

I will try to take better pics next time I go out in those 500’ depths. I tried using the MirrorControl while on the water. But was having a hard time connecting it through hotspot. It works great when I am at home
Connected to the internet.

If your cell isn't getting internet the Mirror function won't work. You would need to add a low cost wireless router to the boat so both your GP1971F/Gp1871F unit and the phone can connect up an talk on a shared network. It can be done with only the phone as long as the phone has active internet to act as a bus but it will fail if you get out of internet range. You might want to consider a low cost wifi router for the boat if you plan to use this feature way offshore.

That will be impossible. I am in a kayak. I was hoping my cells internet would do it.

Don't roll the Kayak as the GP1871F/GP1971F is not submersible. I would say there is little room to mirror to a different location on the boat of a Kayak. I would recommend staying in cell phone range if you must mirror. If you can create a hotspot and have internet via the phone it should work.

I know that’s what I am scared of. I had a seal jump on it the other day almost flipped me over. I put a thin beed of silicone where the screen meets the plastic frame. I wish they made a water proof housing for it.

lol.. I have seen too many get filled with water (not factory defect or warranty) because it got dunked in a Kayak. I have been pushed for a line a products designed for Kayaks but so far they haven't embraced it.

So checked this out. I came across a product on YouTube called Outex. They make waterproof housings/covers for cameras and phones. I contacted them and
Told them about the fishing kayak community in need of their product for fishfinder’s . They are looking in to it and will get back to me. Exciting news. I can’t wait. I am sure it will be a bit of a challenge due to the fact that the fish finders have the two cables coming out of them for power and transducer. But I know they can come up with something.

The problem with sealing something completely is condensation that happens when things heat up and cool down. If they can't breathe you get water condensation that will let the smoke out the same as if you dunked it. Some things just can't be simple.

I didn’t think about that. Makes sense. What if we were to put something inside that housing that absorbs condensation. Like some
Sort of sand or something along those lines.

Desiccant and others can help but sometimes for only limited time. The other issue with sealing items is heat dissipation. Electronics tend to put off heat and without air flow and cooling.... Poof..

Shoot. Do you think it is a good idea that I cover my 1871f with a towel while on the water. So that it at least protects it somewhat from the salt particles that are in the air.

Depends on the heat but normally a towel won't let it dissipate the heat as well.

Shoot, I have to come up with something. And by the way I have made the perfect bracket for my transducer. I bought some c133 stainless steal for it. Works perfect.

It might want to rotate up on you with any kind of speed so you will want to use it at very low speeds. Very creative.

I am not powered by any kind of motor as of now. The Hobie drive gives me top speed of 3.5 mph Maybe 4 if I am pushing it. The hall is designed to take max speed of 5 maybe 6 mph. I tried pulling on the bracket and it is not moving. The thing is sturdy. But thank you for all the advice. I really appreciate it.
