I installed a dff1 and at the same time I installed a tm260 transfucer. I changed the dip switch on the dff1 to change the output to 1kw. I can't hardly hear the transfucer click and it does not show bottom past 550-600'. My buddy has this same transfucer and is getting a return at 2000'. Is there some other changes I need to make to my VX2 or dff1 to make this work?

I had a etr6/10 and all I did was swap box's and data cables, I didn't make any changes in the vx2 not sure if any needed to be made? I have another unit running a p66 transducer and it is hands down out producing this tm260 right now and this is not right.

Mouse4x4,
OK, did you try putting back the BBFF1 and trying that with the TM-260 to see if the depth performance was the same?

I didn't do that yet as everything was checking good on the dff1 with self test and all. The green light is doing what it was supposed to. I may have to swap the etr back in and see what happens.

Ok I just switched back to the etr6/10 and I switched the jumper inside to get the 1kw output. The clicking g of the transfucer is definitely louder now. Inside the dff1 I switched the dip switch to the down position like the instructions stat but can barely here the transfucer even click. I will not be able to sea trial the boat again for another month. Is there a way to send the dff1 out to be tested?

Does it sound like this is the issue? Do you all have a facility on the east coast? I am located in MD
There is nothing else that needed to be done setting wise in my VX2 when I installed the dff1 is there? Also if I send this out how do I let someone know it is coming and what the problem is that I am having?

Mouse4x4,
In checking it will be better to send it to Camas than Denton. However let's just double check that you changed the programming correctly. Also did you cycle power to the DFF1?
The only dip switch that should be changed is the most inboard one, see below.

Yes that is the dip.switch that was changed I even double checked and pulled power cord to kill power. It will be getting sent out to the west coast in the next few days. Do I just drop a note in the box discussing the problem I am having?

Mouse4x4,
Yes, a note with your contact information would be nice. I am curious since FUSA doesn't sell the TM-260 where did you find one with a 10-pin connector?

The part number was tm260-10f and I got it thru an electronics dealer on the hull truth brand new. The transfucer it self has a 4' cord to a generic connector and then what ever unit you are connecting to it comes with an adaptor cable that is 30' long that plugs I to the transfucer and then into the black box of choice.

That is an Airmar Mix/Match transducer. It should work fine if the transducer doesn't have a problem. If your sounder unit tests fine, then you might look into having someone with a transducer tester and sweep the transducer to ensure it is fine.

I am going to be sending the dff1 in for testing, the etr6/10 has the unit clicking very loud compared to what it was with the dff1.

Ok well I will still send it in and have it checked out. A buddy of mine has this same setup and his unit is reading bottom at 2200' where I was dropping it at 550-600'. My 600kw p66 transducer on another unit was reading bottom to 800'. I hope it is just a problem with the dff1 that can be fixed

Thanks for your help. I will be sending in this week to get checked out

Just for further thought, this transducer was holding bottom at 200-300-400' while crusing at 30knots flawlessly both going out and coming in. Just did not have the power to penetrate deep.

Could be a sounder, transducer, or setup/installation issue. At least if it gets tested you can narrow it down. Just because a transducer works with an analog sounder doesn't mean it is on freq enough to work with a digital sounder. The transducer might not be ringing at the correct freq but the analog sounder is wide enough to mask the transducer problem. If you know someone with the AIrmar TDT1000 tester, you might sweep the transducer. Testing the sounder is a great step to get moving to a solution.

Sounder has been mailed out to you guys for tested I thru a note in the box of the syptoms I was having. Thanks for the support
