Good morning, Just questioning if there would be any problem putting a housing around the AP pump, to help silence it when trolling. Do not notice on cruise as the outboard noise covers it up. Issue with overheating? If possible , could the hosing be insulated and fairly tight to the pump. Ap300 with a octopus bump. Thanks, trapper

Heat would be the problem, when the pump is being used a lot it will start getting hot. If you close it off where it can't breathe, it is likely to overheat and suffer damage.
Maybe some sound absorbent materials on the underside of the deck? The Octopus pumps we sell are pretty quiet so I am guessing you have one of their older models? I heard the older models would get pretty darn loud. Back in those days we only carried the Accu-steer because they were quiet.
