Scanner Cable Mounting

Just purchased an 1815 unit for the boat with the 10m scanner cable. Question: Can the scanner cable be run up the outside of the mast, i.e. is it weatherproof enough, or should it be routed inside the mast up to the scanner antenna? Would rather secure it outside since, besides the difficulty of fishing it up the mast, the mast also has electrical wires for steaming, anchor, and spreader lights, plus internal halyards inside of it.

It can go outside. Because it is exposed to the elements, I would recommend inspecting it every year as it ages.
