Replacing NAVpilot-500 Processor

The FAP-5001 processor installed on our sailboat in 2008 has done its duty and now refuses to power up without errors.

I am thinking of replacing it with the latest processor, the FAP-7002. However, I will have to do this in Central America, in a remote location, by myself. The NN3D, autopilot head, fluxgate and RRU are all original. Would this be a simple plug-and-play, or will new connectors and wiring be required?

The simpler option might just be to buy a used 5001 and keep my fingers crossed that it will work.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

Not simple change unfortunately. The NAVpilot control heads and cables are different. The NAVpilot 711c is a much better sailboat pilot than the old 500 was but the change out requires full replacement except for the steering/pump connection.
