NavPilot 7011 Connection?

What is the preferred connection for connecting two FAP7011C units to the FAP-7002 processor. Will they work the same either way if connected to TB8 and TB9 or connected in series? If each unit is connected directly to TB8 or 9; can they both be powered on and be used? (Only one person using one unit at a time)

Thanks,
Phil

As I recall, whether it’s on the same daisy chain line or wired into port A and B, once you power on one 711C display, it will power on all of them. That is by design, so you don’t have to run around and power each display one by one.

There is not a preferred way to install the displays, it's just going to depend on the installation of the two displays. If they are near each other, it would make it easy to daisy chain the two together. If they are going to be in completely separate area's of the boat, you could wire one into Port A and the other into Port B. Basically to prevent too much cabling and be within the cabling rules of 30 meters.

Ensure if you use both bus A and bus B that you change the jumper on the processor to enable that function and also ensure both buses have the required termination plug on the back of the last unit of each bus.

Is there any operational or preformance difference between running two controllers in a chain vs home running both other than wiring convenience?

It is all about wiring convenience. There is no other operational or performance difference. To run 4 to 6 controllers you would have to leverage Channel B. You can only run a max of three controllers per channel.
