I have done the update of software to 5.03 and now I am getting a red rectangle at the top of the screen talking about catalytic converters. Not sure my F200 I4 Yam even has them. Is there a way to shut off the warning so they don't show any more?

I have the same issue after recently updating to 5.03. No way to clear without resolving the issue. If you look in the alarm log was yours dated 1/1/2016, Catalyst Malfunction?

This would be an error generated by the Yamaha engine system. The new software supports reading many of their special engine messages/status'. Have you tried doing the maintenance resets under the install setup, for Yamaha?

Jas518 I show no errors,
Johnny, the reset didn't do anything that is for STDs maintenance reminders. There are no converters in outboard yet. Just got boat back from dealer and he said neither engine had any issues he thinks the issue is on Furuno side.

We have two pro-staff running Yamaha engines without this problem since 5.03 first released. It is easy to point fingers. Please open an official support case with tech support.

I have exactly the same issue and the same engine alarm and warning indicator you describe. I have a single Yamaha F115 and the fault says "port engine" though I have a single.

There is no way to stop or clear it using the alarm setup page or the engine setup.

Please post if you figure it out.

Hello,

New to forum. Newly installed TZtouch2.

I too have that red rectangles warnings "Catalyist Malfunction" appear when I start my Yamaha outboards.

Here is link to photo:

I have contacted all of my local Furuno and Yamaha experts for advice. Furuno folks suggest it is a Yamaha issue. Yamaha folks suggest it is a Furuno issue. Hummm?

Can anyone offer m any advice on how to resolve this warning?

Thank you

From what I understand it is a valid complaint code from the engine. The photo you provided didn't work. When I logged into drop box, it only had a folder with "My Fav Sounder videos". I found nothing about this rectangle. It is possible to post JPEG files to the forum. If someone could share something, I will press Japan for more information. v5.03 software added support for Yamaha status'. The engine status must be cleared by a Yamaha shop most likely.

I had my engines to a service center and there is no warning to clear in either of my engines. In fact the tech. said that outboards from Yamaha do not have catalytic converters at this time, they may in the future. so there is nothing to clear that will set this right. If Furuno would just add a way to remove the warning from showing, that would resolve the issue having to watch it blink on the screen all day.

Earlier attempts to send photo failed - file too large.

Here I have tried to reduce the size of the digital image.

Hopefully now you can see the alarm page from my TZTL12F. See that it lists "Catalyst Malfunction" for both port and starboard Yamaha outboard.

Let me know if this image makes it.

Thank you

Yes, that photo of the alarm log came through. Didn't you say the main screen had some kind of notice/error showing that won't clear?

Here is photo of red rectangle warning "CATALYST MALFUNCTION" that shows at the top of my screen the moment I turn ignition key(s).

Once I turn the key(s) to 1st position, I get an audible alarm and then continuous (alternating) warning for both port and starboard motors.

I am able to silence the alarm, but the the red warning rectangles remain on screen as long as I have outboard keys on.

Thanks for helping me resolve this

A customer is sending back a data capture device for us to look into this issue further. We should have some information on this in the next few weeks.

Japan investigated this using recently captured data from a customer's boat. We have verified the error isn't coming from the engine. They are investigating why only some Yamaha customers have this problem. They expect it will be an easy fix and should have the problem addressed in the next software release. The next software release is currently planned sometime during the first week in July.

I have a TZT2 and it also having simlar alarm issues only it is a unknown Yamaha low oil pressure alarm. The boat doesn’t even have Yamaha engines.
