Radar data

Sometimes I get radar echos and other times not. I'm really thinking that the issue is power related - voltage and current. Often, the unit just shuts down and I have to restart it. I replaced the ships batteries with new, and also replaced the battery charger with a new 20amp charger. How is the unit power cable supposed to be connected to ships power? Is it supposed to be wired directly to the battery with a 15a/7a fuse? Right now, I have it connected to a terminal strip that is wired to a 15a breaker.

What voltage are you running? (12v or 24v)
Which fuse are you using? (7 or 15 amp)
I understand you have a 15 amp breaker.

I normally recommend the breaker be just a bit smaller than that of the fuse so that it pops without blowing fuses, that might be harder to get to. (if fused by itself) I don't think there is anything wrong with your breaker/fusing/power. Because of what you reported about the screen and how it suddenly fixed itself; I suspect a problem in the display processor itself. While it could be the IF amp in the scanner, the best way to know is to test the radar with another known good display unit.
