On time TX time

Hi guys
My drs6a-nxt unit will not shut down, the unit ON TIME keeps increasing even after I shut down the network from the tzt2 mfd. The radar power cord is attached directly to the battery as shown in the installation manual. There is a slight humming noise coming from the motor box of the radar even when the system is completely shut down. I asked a technician about it and he said I should put a switch for the power. Any ideas on why the radar will not completely shut down?

Thanks

Could it from the mfd tzt2 that is not giving the command for the radar and autopilot to shutdown? I keep trying the shut down network power but only the mfd shuts down...

On time is not the same as TX time. On time will continue to count as long as the radar has power connected. If you want to totally shut off power to the radar, you would want to install a power switch. The TZT2 will command the radar between transmit and standby but has no way to completely cut the power. When in standby the radar will pull a small amount of power keeping the Radar processor ready to go. Installing a power switch is recommend if you are concerned about the power. Having the radar in standby itself isn't a problem. The power process is harder on any electronics than just running it all the time, due to initial power surges at power on. Customer can go either way with it. Some want to install a switch and others don't.

Okay great, I was worried something was wrong. Thanks for the help!

So is it correct to conclude that the network shutdown option on the mfd is used for turning down other mfd s on the same network; not for radars , autopilots and other sensors on that same network?
