Hi, Just purchased a tz touch 2 and nxt radar, After wiring and install did a preliminary turn on. went to activate trails on radar, brought up window that turned trails on and off, when pressed on switch, trails would not activate? The current software that was printed on the shipping box reads 4.01. Gerry

no heading data as of yet, I guess this is needed? Thx, Gerry

Gerry,

Yes. To get the full potential out the DRS4D-NXT, including the Target Analyzer capabilities, you must have Heading and GPS input to the unit.

Deep Blue - :)

Thank you! I was told I could use a lowrance point 1 gps , which will provide heading data. Is this advisable? Gerry

If it provides heading (not just COG from the GPS); then it should work fine. The better the heading data, the better the results.

The Point 1 works great with the TXT2 and NXT.

Point-1 provides extremely accurate and rapid boat position and speed updates. In addition – unlike other position-only antennas – the Point-1 provides heading for accurate boat direction at any speed and for radar/chart overlay.

great!, thanks I am going to give the lowrance point 1 a try.

I have the B&G version of the Point 1, I didn't do very well using the heading on the TZT2, I think it only does 2d heading (e.g. doesn't include pitch and roll) I ended up getting an Airmar H2183 which is re-used by all sorts of people (Furuno don't appear to at the moment, but they do use Airmar sensors notably in their new multiscan depth sounders) The Airmar seems to be *way* more accurate and you can get them on ebay for $150 if you look around (watch out they are often listed at $700)

It should have. Mine works great. The only difference between the 2 is the 3rd axis gyro for slightly better accuracy in rough weather to take in pitch and roll which throws it into the same price range as the autopilot units.
