No depth via BBDS1

I am going to install a new 525st-msd transducer. When I plug the transducer into the BDDS1, I get temp but no depth when tested. I have held it in salt water (by the stem) and no depth. Held in in a bucket and I get no sound/clicking from the transducer.

I have gone into the sensor list and it shows the BDDS1 for depth and temp, but still not depth.

Help

What TZTouch MFD do you have and what version of software does it have? Also, what version of software does the BBDS1 have? This information can be found in the sensor list.

Have you verified the BBDS1 is the fish finder source in the fish finder menu (Furuno-Settings-Fish Finder-User Settings)? The one that you mentioned in the source selection menu is to choose the source for the depth data box. Also, typically you want to be in 15ft of water when testing even though you may get it to work in around 5ft.

The Bdds1 is the selected unit for depth. We are sitting in 38 feet of water. We only get temp with the new transducer…no depth. I did get into the service man menu and the BDDS1 is not getting a TX signal for either HF of LF. We tried the hard reset by toggling pin 4 to on and the pushing the red button. Did not work. Still no TX signal. We tried a new shielded Ethernet cable and no luck.

The BBDS1 is the selected unit for depth, but is it the selected unit for Fish Finder (Furuno-Settings-Fish Finder-User Settings). Choose BBDS1 as Fish Finder Source. The BBDS1 will not transmit unless set as the fish finder source in the fish finder menu.

It sounds like the BBDS1 has gone bad. Unfortunately, we no longer sell that product and there is no repair capability for the BBDS1. Are you able to connect the transducer to the TZT13X that you have? If the 10 meter cable (approx 30ft) is not long enough, the cable can be extended to up to 66 ft. If this is not an option, you might try to find a used BBDS1 or get something like an FCV600 or FCV800.

I can try. The 13x is mounted on the flybridge. Don’t the 16x also have a built in sounder module? What other sounder modules are compatible with the XL platform?

You are correct. You could connect the transducer to one of the TZT16X MFDs as well. The compatible network fish finders that work with the TZTXL MFDs are: DFF1UHD+ and DFF3-UHD. Only the DFF1UHD+ would be compatible with the transducer you mentioned in your initial question.

It looks like the DFFUHD+ requires a 12 pin to 10 pin adaptor. Is there a product number? The cables I find all say they are for the TZT3 platform.

The DFF1UHD+ should have been shipped with the 12pin to 10pin adapter, it is in the Packing List.

Part# - 000-200-955-10
Same adapter that is included with the TZTXL

Model# - FRU-CCB12-MJ-01-BU

More to the saga. We purchased a DFF1 UHD+ sounder. Installed it and grounded it and still no depth. We now get a number that bounces around but no hard bottom line on the chartplotter. We are using the 525STID-MSD which is compatible. What are we missing?

If the DFF1UHD+ is selected as your fish finder source and the 525STID-MSD transducer is selected in the transducer setup, then I would say the transducer is bad. We don't normally see temp work and depth not unless it's not in 15 feet of water or deeper. Best thing to do is get another 525STID-MSD and hang it over the side of the boat in the water and see if it works. Maybe you can work something out with the dealer you purchased the transducer from. They may have a test transducer, but that is up to the dealer.
