NAVpilot 700 issues

Hi I have had issues with my 13 year old NAVpilot 700 system since install. It is paired with a FAP 7002 control unit, a heading sensor and a HRP 17-12 L power steering pump with a FPS8 block. Main issues relate to insufficient power, autopilot self disconnecting, self diagnostics showing rudder control fault or heading sensor issues- all at different times. Now the 700 screen is starting to blacken.
Install is on a 38ft center console with two Mercury Verado 300 outboards. Would welcome any advice on either fixing these issues or upgrading to a complete new system.
Furuno agent Radio Hollander in Dubai went a 600 USD call out fee with no guarantee of a fix.

Since you have outboards, what are you using for a rudder position indicator? Or is it set up with the "Fantum Feedback"?

I did a quick look at ebay and it is possible to buy a used but functioning head unit to replace the one with the screen issues. I doubt the parts would be available to replace the display itself given its age. However, I am pretty sure that your FAP 7002 processor unit can be used with the new 711C control head if you wanted to go that way. It is smaller than your current head and would require some cosmetic work to your helm. If your pump and processor are functioning, a new control head would be the simplest upgrade.

The bigger problem is all the fault codes you are getting, which would suggest a problem with the FAP7002. One thought would be to update the software on your FAP7002 and see if that helps. It is pretty easy to do using a laptop and an old-fashioned printer cable. The software and instructions can be downloaded here: https://furunousa.com/en/support/NAVPILOT 711C. click on the "software" tab.
