NAVNET VX2 NMEA OUT

Hi,

I need to send NMEA GPS speed out to my Mercury Smartcraft gauges, I know how to do this on the Smartcraft side, but I'm unsure how to set this up on the Furuno side. I have two RDP-149 displays, one set up as the GPS chartplotter. I see in the instructions how to hook up NMEA IN, but not OUT.....

1. What cable do I need?
2. What wire in the cable provides the NMEA OUT?
3. Do I need to configure the system to provide GPS speed out?

Thanks,

Steve

If you have data port 2 of either one of your displays available; I would suggest using that port for the output data. You would need a 6 pin NMEA cable (Furuno P/N 000-154-054) and use the WHITE (+) and BLACK (-) NMEA output to connect to the Smartcraft. You would want to turn on the NMEA sentence (VTG = Speed Over Ground / Course Over Ground) on your output of data 2. (MENU - SYSTEM CONFIG - SYSTEM SETUP - PORT SETUP - DATA 2 - SELECT SNTNC)
