Mercury Smartcraft Speedo

My Smartcraft speedo went dead after the installation of the TZT22X (replacing my TZT2's). Is there a setting in the 22X I need to bring the speedo back to life?

You likely would need to talk to Mercury and see what information is needed and how it needs it provided. Many take 0183 and needs SOG/COG to use. Your previous system might have had 0183 wired over and it might be that you need to do that same wiring from the 0183 data of the 22X to provide the Mercury what it needs. When the older system was removed its 0183 wiring likely was disconnected and no one moved that over to the 22X and turned on the needed 0183 output sentences. The optional multi-cable is likely needed for your 22X and then wire it up and turn on the needed data to output.

I was in settings on the 22X and list of sensors and I do see an 0183 section. That said there were lots of other options not turned on under the GP330B sensor list. The speedo is set to external gps. What part number is the multi cable?

Got the cable and was able to trace the smartcraft gauges with the Nema 0183 connections. Seavee from the factory ran a decent gauge wire from the gauges, joined the leads with the VHF and then joined it into the back of the TZT2. The new multi cable associated wire is very thin compared to the existing wiring coming from VHf/Gauges. WOuld it be appropriate to snip/strip a small piece of that wire and place it in the butt connector along with the appropriate wire from multiuse cable so as to get good contact? Otherwise the butt connector needed will be way too big for the multicable wire

Made the connections this weekend and the vhf lit up immediately with lat/long so its hearing from the Furuno XL multiuse cable via the NEMA 0183. THe smartcraft speedometer however remained unchanged. Settings are set to external gps sensor and mph by gps. It still didn't come off of "Pitot" and remained dead. Are there some additional settings on the XL for me to consider that might make the speedo talk to the XL? The system is now replicated to what was there before.
