LAN internet with radar?

I’m replacing all of my Raymarine gear with a new TZT13X, DRS4D-NXT, SCX20, etc. The install will happen on by sailboat this Spring and until then I’m getting familiar with the plotter running it in the basement connected to my home internet. I’d like to use the plotter’s LAN connection to facilitate both radar and internet by way of a Peplink B One.

1) Is it possible to have radar and internet on the same ethernet network?
2) How can I connect the router to the internet using LAN? I’ve connected my home router to the plotter and disconnecting Wi-Fi just eliminates all internet connection.

Any home network should not be mixed with the Furuno Ethernet by LAN cable. The MFD can be connected to the home network/internet via the wifi connection. The Furuno Ethernet/LAN is for connection to established Furuno network items like the radar, network fish finders and such. Your home router should connect to your internet service provider and not be connected to the Furuno Ethernet/LAN. The Furuno LAN network bandwidth is reserved for radar/sounder and sync data between displays. The SCX20 is a NMEA 2000 device and would connect by an established NMEA 2000 bus. The bridge to the internet from the NavNet system is via wifi.

Welcome to Furuno. I am sure you will enjoy the system. It is very smart to learn the features in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Got it, so Starlink should only connect with the MFD via WiFi. The radar will run through a Linksys switch to the MFD thereby keeping internet devices separate from NavNet devices.

Correct any Starlink connection would need to be via a wifi connection. This can normally be done by a wifi router on the internet home/boat network. If you only have the DRS radar and the MFD, you don't need any hub/switch. They can connect directly together using the RJ45 LAN connection. If you are adding more Furuno LAN items and off the shelf hub can be used but it should not be any sort of router. It is just a simple hub/switch.
