I have a NavNet VX2 for chart plotter and radar and a separate FCV585 for sonar. I just repowered my boat with Verados and had the VV703 installed. The 703 uses NMEA2000 while I believe the Furunos on my boat use NMEA0183, though not sure. What would I need to network my chartplotter to the VesselView so that I can get speeds, fuel usage such as mpg, etc on the 703? Does anybody have a diagram showing the connections and ideally part numbers, etc. Thanks.

Good afternoon Sails and Tails,

Thank you for your inquiry. You would need a free port on the Vx2 to communicate with the 703. You would also need to convert the NMEA0183 data into NMEA2000 using a converter. However, the VX2 may not produce all the information the 703 needs. Can you provide a list of NMEA2000 PGN's that the 703 needs or uses?

C-Bass

Thanks for the feedback. I've been looking for the PGNs for the 703 but haven't been able to find them anywhere. Can you tell me what the VX2 sends re: NMEA0183 Sentences?

They list the input sentences and output sentences on the specification pages of the operator's manual. The 1944C/NT for example shows them listed on page SP-3 and SP-4.
There are a lot of them supported but 0183 won't have anything regarding input of engine data. You would really only need the output data in this case.
