how do I know if my back up files are good/bootable card

I did a backup of my waypoints but I don't know if its good. Is there a way to test it or view it before I attempt a hard reset?

I use a MAC.

I'm also trying a software update on my older TZ from 4.1 to 5.1 I made a bootable sd card but it won't accept the files on my mac. Am I doing something wrong or are there specific files to put on the card

Normally after backing up the files with the TZT you can try to re-import them to test the file. If the file isn't there to re-import then you missed something when you tried to save the data. If it re-imports your good.
