GP170 and GP170D What is the difference between the two. Or maybe I should ask what is the difference between GPS and DGPS? What sort of data outputs does it have? I don't see any mention of this unit being nmea2000 compatible. Does it have nmea 183 then to share gps/heading data to a laptop? Does it share data from other devices like the GP-39?

Is the 170 worlds better than the GP39? I see it is bigger but what else is different?

This is a commercial product not discussed in this consumer grade forum but DGPS is a special way of locking down a tight GPS signal using shore beacons.

Some commercial requirements have required DGPS. Most consumer grade products do the same type of thing using a lower cost method using a WAAS satellite. My understanding like Loran, the DGPS system is slowly being phased out.
