GP 1971f couple of setup issues??

Gday guys, new to this forum today and joining from Australia. I just have a couple of questions regarding the GP 1971f? I helped a mate install the unit in his boat and we tried it last night. The issues we have are 1, how do we save a track? For eg, when we cross a coastal bar in the daylight we need to be able to save that track so we can then follow it home in the dark.
2, the icon that is the boat only ever looks north? We have tried North Up, Head Up and course up and it always remains the same. Even when heading due west, the icon is looking north? I am sure they will both just be setting issues but we can’t find the correct ones?

Note, the dealer supplied a Garmin antenna to use through the nmea2000 network as it is in a hardtop boat. I don’t know if this makes a difference?

I’ll put a pic up to show the icon issue.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Cheers
Lee

In the operators manual under File Management you will find instructions on saving tracks, waypoints, and routes. If you do not have the manual it can be downloaded from our website.

Ship icon would need a heading input to show heads up. Have you tried to go course up when a destination point is set.

Hi Melville, thanks for this. Yes I have downloaded the manual and had a bit of a read but still couldn’t really make sense of it. You are right on with the head up. We had it at north Up. This is obviously a different setting to the one on the main screen that gives the north up, head up, course up option. We didn’t realise this was the case. Thanks for your help.
Now we will just continue to try and sort the tracks out.
Thanks again for your help
