GP 170 antenna position offsets to a common reference point

For the GP170 operators manual 9.2 Corrections and offset manu ship size and Antenna position setting, does this only affect the GPPOS nmea sentence?
If so, is there any setting to have a offset to have a common reference point between two or more GPS units and would this require True heading input to the GPS units?
