Furuno navpilot 711c failed startup test

My navpilot 711c is not turning on, just hear a sound every now and then when pushing power button. Only once did the screen light up and the message "failed startup test" appeared. In the past two years I had a similar problem every summer (not turning on) and it turned out to be a software update required. Is this failed startup test similar? Thanks

While software might have got things working for you it isn't a fix as there is no known issue as you describe. It sounds like someone forgot to put the termination resistor at the end of the control bus or the processor internal jumper selecting the control bus(es) is in the wrong position. It also could be a wiring or hardware issue.
