Furuno gp7000 questions

I recently bought my first boat, a 1992 Mako 221 and it has a Furuno 7000 on it.
I am unsure of what can be added to this unit and what it’s potential is.
Currently it seems way off. In water that should be around 40’ it’s giving around 950 to 1100’
I see on the manuals it has inputs on the back for radar, autopilot, etc. is that true?
Or is that just the type of connection those things use and this happens to have the same connection?

Sorry for the possibly stupid questions- first boat ever, so obviously first boat electronics.

I believe you have the GP7000F with the built in fishfinder. This model does not have any radar input capability, but the output can drive an autopilot if connected via NMEA0183.
I would suggest your first step is to download the operators and installation manuals for reference.

The issues you are having with the depth could be a simple set up problem. You can always contact our customer support group while you are on the boat to help you trouble shoot. They can be reached at 360-834-9300 and are located in Camas, Washington.
