Ok Iam a little confused.
Do I need markfish to be able to tie the FVC588 to the GP1971F.
Using the Mark button on the 588 fishfinder to create a waypoint on the GP1971f ?
If I do not need markfish then how is this setup?
thanks
Dale

It is a direct NMEA0183 connection between the two. TLL out from the 588, TLL into the 1971.

I’m having an issue with this and I’m currently awaiting a reply from Furuno via email. Will post the response.

The first response I received from a Furuno was

FCV628
White wire (Output +)
Blue wire (Output -)

GP1971F
Yellow wire (Input +)
Green wire (Input -)

On the FCV628 in the NMEA setting set TLL Output to FURUNO-TLL.

The second reply when I informed them that it wasn’t working was...

Two more wires to connect.

GP1971F
White wire (Output +)
Blue wire (Output -)

FCV628
Yellow wire (Input +)
Green wire (Input -)

The Connection is White and Blue from the GP1971F cable. Yellow and green is from the FCV628 cable.

On the GP1971F set the SETTINGs, INTERFACE SETTINGS, NMEA0183 OUTPUT, turn ON GGA, RMB, RMC, VTG, and ZDA.

I don’t think they fully understood that it wasn’t functioning properly after the first email. This back and forth slow email deal is kinda crummy for support.

As you can see, the wire colors are flip flopped between the two responses... so I do not know which is correct.

BFrench7,

Couple of thoughts. You can always call our tech support line when your on the vessel. We operate Monday-Friday 0800-1700 EST and 0800-1700 PST.

The information you received is both correct. This is going to take a 4 wire connection because the FCV588 needs to have L/L information before it can send out a TLL to the chart plotter.

FCV628---------------------------------------------------------------GP1971
Yellow --------------------------------------------------------------White
Green----------------------------------------------------------------Blue
White-----------------------------------------------------------------Yellow
Blue-------------------------------------------------------------------Green

You will need to program the GP1971F to send position data to the FCV628: Follow the steps in the previous post. Or you can refer to the manual section 4.1-4.5.

You will also need to turn on the output of the FCV628 to Furuno TLL. Please follow the steps in the previous post. Or you can refer to the manual section 4.9

Make sure the baud rate on both machines match: IE: 4800
