fps 8 replacement

Hello again.
Quick question about a navpilot 700 system. It has a hrp17-24 pump.

Recently found out the fps 8 module is no longer available.

What is the replacement for the fps-8.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hello dustinzstingray,

There will be a replacement for the FPS8.

It is called SafeHelm2 and it will be introduced in the coming weeks.

Maybe a dumb question but Is there any chance, running a nav pilot 300 with a hrp17-24 pump, on a 52' trawler, is it possible to run with out the fps8 module in the system?

As long as the pump is spec'd properly for the steering system it doesn't matter if you have the FPS8 or not. The FPS8/SafeHelm is an enhancement not a requirement.

What is the latest on SafeHelm2. I cannot find info or a replacement for the FPS8? Getting ready to upgrade from a TR-1 Gladiator and trying to piece the puzzle together.

I installed a SafeHelm2 module and wired it to the processor for my NavPilot 700. When I go to the setup menu, it isn't listed where it is supposed to found under "Other".

No sure how to troubleshoot since the only thing it says in the installation instructions is to connect the four wires to the appropriate terminal black, which is what I did.

The pilot processor needs to sense the sensor wires are connected. Whenever you try "Air Bleed" under dockside it should try to guess what pump you have. You can then push the knob and select something else if it guessed wrong. If your sensor is connected up, you should have a choice for Reversible pump Safe-helm.
