Fishing Charts

Hello, i have the east coast fishing chart installed, when i roto key to it and activate it i get nothing but the canyon names? It works fine on Maxsea, shows all the contour lines. This is installed in my MFD 12 runnin the newest software. I have already deleted the old file and re installed a new file, although it is the same version. Any ideas?

Then it might be the 3D data files. I would make sure you have the newest or reload those. The 3D data files are normally invisible but the system uses them when conducting overlay of info.

This is all assuming you are not in some of the known areas without data like off of NC. You have moved up and down the coast and zoomed in and out correct?

I have had the same issue for over a year; ever since I upgraded to 2.07.

I have exquisite canyon detail for anything deeper than 600', but minimal soundings or lines for anything less than 600'. Inshore waters are blank..

Larry, i fooled with a setting in the chart menu and got all the detail back in the Fishing Charts. It was a drop down on the top of one of the pages. I had the S57 chart selected, i changed it to the fishing chart and got all my contour lines back!
Hope this helps

Hey Kevin, Just got my new ride as you know and it has two of these NN3D things.
You think I should upgrade from 2.07 to 2.11? I'm afraid of anything running Windows, especially on the water.
Maybe someday it will be able to handle my AIS over N2K.
God, these things are slow.

Ethan, i upgraded mine when 2.11 came out, there were a few improvements, however at this point not sure what they were. I have a ACR Nauticast B AIS plugged into my N2k port on the tower MFD8, it does AIS like a charm. I say go for it, just follow the directions for the update. My NN3D's are great, the only change i would make is to a TZ Touch for the chart side.

Could you confirm that your AIS unit is plugged into a serial NMEA0183 Port on your MFD8 rather than to the N2K (Canbus - NMEA2000) network. My understanding is that NN3D does not support AIS via canbus.

I will need to look further, i will be at the boat this weekend to confirm. I thought it was N2k, but my memory isn't what it used to be! Standby...

I'll give the update a try and I'm also interested to hear of your AIS-N2K status. Thanks Kev!!
