My FI70 does not turn on. Everything else on the n2k backbone works fine. Any idea what the typical failure mode is for these or anything actionable? It has only about 300 hours.

As long as there is a good connection and power on the bus, it should be able to be turned on. Parts are not available for that small compact unit so it would need to be replaced. If the unit is very young you might send it into the service center to see why it might have failed. Many times if it is young they will offer some type of discount on out of warranty items while giving you an idea what might have happened so it doesn't get repeated.
