I currently own a FCV-585 and the deep water performance (1000') is pretty good with a 1kw transducer. Has anyone tested the built in TZT2 sounder at those depths? I'm considering a future upgrade with a stand alone TZT2-12 and was wondering how the internal sonar performs. Do the TZT2 and FCV-588 use the same sonar circuit?

They are very similar but there are be a few extra features when you have the TZT2 because of the geo referenced points integration of the GPS. It also has the ability to scroll back the screen in time a bit on the TZT2. Both offer some of the most advanced features we offer. You can't go wrong with either unit when it comes to sounders.
