FCV 295 to airmar 509

Hello there,

I have a FCV 295 with a 2kw 200 khz and a 3kw 38khz tranducers in my boat. They work great, but I am wondering if there would be any advantage of going to an airmar trandsducer- ie: CM599LH transducer?

Would they give any better pictures when fishing from day time swords in 300-600 mtrs (900-2000 feet)???

I am assuming that you are currently using a CA38BL-15HR, correct? If you are, the LF side of the 599 has more elements and thus will have a narrower beam pattern. The BW of the 15HR is 12.5 x 21 vs the 599 at 7 x 13 degrees. The end result will be your targets will show harder but shorter than what you are currently seeing.

Yes that’s correct, I’m using the 38BL-15hr.
With the 599 am I correct in thinking it will also be looking at a more condensed footprint on the sea floor having a narrower beam angle?

You are correct.
The 599 will have smaller water column and bottom foot print.
