Equipment & Depth Limits for Bottom Discrimination (or Hardness)?

What equipment combination would give maximum depth for bottom discrimination or hardness out to TimeZero (down to 1500ft)?

It looks like the FCV-1150, FCV-800, and Touch2/3/XL all provide this feature, but I'm confused about listed bottom discrimination transducers because they seems to be mostly 600w (so can't take advantage of the FCV-1150/DI-FFAMP power levels).

1. Are there any higher output transducers compatible with bottom discrimination/hardness?

2. Can CHIRP do bottom discrimination/hardness or is this a CW only function?

(edited to reflect interest in discrimination OR hardness output for TimeZero)

Bottom discrimination only works from 5 to 100 meters no matter what equipment you have.

The FCV1150 doesn't have bottom discrimination feature like the FCV800 and TZ Touch displays. The FCV1150 has a bottom hardness feature if you connect one of the Furuno specific transducers listed as CAxxxx on Furuno USA website. The FCV800 also has a bottom hardness feature.

The FCV800 and TZ Touch displays each have a list of compatible bottom discrimination transducers shown under accessories for each display model number.

Here's a link to our website: https://furunousa.com/en

Thanks! I was getting confused about that. Thanks for clarifying the 'Bottom Discrimination' has a depth limitation. I've been reading through https://furunousa.com/en all week but couldn't find an exact range :geek:

Thanks for the CAxxxx transducer reference. Is there a maximum depth for bottom hardness? Or is it just a function of the transducer power/range?

Is bottom hardness a display feature, or just a data output feature?

Lacking the feature, just set your depth range for >2x the depth and watch the 2nd echo. It's colorfulness/strength is a good indication of hardness.

I'm interested in being able to output discrimination/hardness into TimeZero so I can map it for future reference. I've edited my original post/title to reflect this.

It sounds like the FCV-1150 (with 2kw more output than the FCV-800) would get me max depth, I'm just unsure of the depth limits for the hardness function on the FCV-800 and FCV-1150. Prefer the FCV-800 for the size, wonder if combining it with an 3kw transducer (for max element size) would get me what I'm looking for.
