Drs12a weak display.

Hey guys I was given a drs12a from a friend that was upgrading. He said the radar wouldn’t shown any targets unless it ran for a few days. After running few days it would start showing targets. I had the magnetron replaced and fired it up today and it didn’t show well at all. Attached is a picture in the marina. It’s connected to a tz3 and is powered by the psu 012. Just wanted to pick your brain on this one thanks. Attached is a picture of my radar. And the second picture is from another boat about 10 slips down from me for reference of what the marina looks like with a good functioning radar.

Check that the radar pedestal has the most recent software available and try doing a "hard" reset to it from the radar menu and then setting up its installation parameters again and also do a reset to factory default of the radar settings on your TZT3.

Were you running in auto gain with auto sea state and rain? What happens if you manually adjust the gain higher and turn off the sea state and rain filters? Do the targets get stronger? I can't tell what the settings were since you don't have the data bar showing in you photo.

I had that same model radar on my old boat with a four foot array. It has excellent performance and could show birds 6-8 miles away routinely and small targets like lobster pot floats within a mile if it wasn't too rough. Hope you get it running properly.

Being that it came off another boat, I would take it away from shore and run the radar optimization.
