I'm currently running a P66 Transducer on my 1871 Chartplotter Combo. Are the Chirp Transducers worth the upgrade? The reason why I didn't initially go with the TM185 was because of its massive size. I wasn't too excited on the idea of hanging a 10 pound transducer off my transom.
I do a little bit of everything-open water trolling, deep drop bottom, shallow water trolling, shallow water drift, etc.
The P66 doesn't hold bottom over 10 knots, no matter what I do with the placement of the transducer. Are the Chirp units better with holding bottom? The P66 also has limitations on anything past 80 fathoms or so. Shallow water performance is ok, as long as speed is below 10 knots.
