I am installing two tztouch2 12...if I want to receive sonar on both screen do I need to use the dff1 to my network or will the hub provide the sonar on both screens without using the dff1

Also should I invest in fixed antenna for gps?

You can share the internal sounder for both machines. There wouldn't be any benefit to adding the DFF1. Depending on the installation location you might want an external GPS antenna. Of all the items where redundancy is needed, I recommend GPS.

Chrism6784,

In regards to adding an External GPS Antenna, The benefits of mounting an external GPS antenna are many.

The ability to detect more satellites, Correcting any unforeseen RF Shielding problems, GPS Positioning Flexibility, Boosting GPS Signal Strength, Better GPS Accuracy, and lastly, having a back-up in case of any Internal Antenna Failure.

Just a few things you might consider...

thanks a lot guys i will invest and buy additional gps antenna

No Dff1 needed but a hub is required right?
Meaning I plug my xducer directly into one machine and the other one can also use that signal as long as both machines are on the network. Correct?

Thanks

seaveepete,

You are correct as long both TZT2 are in the same network then they will share the sounder image. But a hub isn't really "needed" the reason we add a hub to the system is due to the TZT2 only has one network port. Now you can connect two TZT2's directly together and have them networked that way. But once you start adding more network devices such as a radar or external sounder or AIS, then you will have no where to connect it into the TZT2 (only one network port) so to help that we add a hub to the system to network multiple devices together.
As far as using internal sounder in the TZT2 and sharing that sounder image to another TZT2, all you need to do is verify that your fish finder source is set to the correct TZT2. (HOME/SETTINGS/SOUNDER/FISH FINDER SOURCE)

Thanks for the response but please clarify how you "connect two TZT2's directly together". Are you talking about using a crossover network cable to connect the two machines? They will both be on the same N2K network of course since they will be side-by-side but I'm not sure which "network" you are referring to here.
BTW - I will be adding RADAR soon but no other networked devices at this time. I just want to share the sounder data that will be plugged into one of the machines.

Thanks again.

Ever since the NN3D moving forward, all Furuno "Ethernet" ports are auto sensing and negates the need for "crossover" cables. In the example of a transducer and two units, just connect the Ethernet ports together (and yes connect both units to your NMEA 2000 bus). If adding other Ethernet network devices (like Radar) to said example, you must have a hub.
