Hello, I have not connected my TZT2 or TZT3 to the internet ever for any updates. Yesterday I connected to my house wifi for the first time on both units. Both showed they were connected. But when I went to look for un update, I did not see one. Also, what is My Timezero? My goal is to update my mapping, the free ones for now.

TZT2 won't do Internet updates, but you can get the update and instructions here (assuming not a TZT2BB): https://furunousa.com/en/support/TZTL12F

TZT3 needs to have v3 or higher to allow Internet updates. You can also perform update via these instructions and software here: https://furunousa.com/en/support/TZT12F

The My TimeZero function is explained in the operator's manual, section 1.21. Here's a link to the manual if you need it: https://furunousa.com/-/media/sites...anuals/tzt9f_12f_16f_19f_operators_manual.pdf

Map updates are completely different from TZT software updates. You'll want to contact your Furuno dealer to help you with that.

I made an account for My Timezero. I am not actually sure exactly what it does? It looks like a mapping app for an iPad or computer. Does the mapping show up on the TZT3 with iPad close to it or is it to take your iPad out fishing and use that for mapping?

If you log one of your TZTs on the Internet, your data can stay synched with the website. If you want you can use the website to do some home planning and then come to the boat to synch that planning (points and/or routes) to your TZT.

Couple of my favorite features on the TZT3
  1. One-Touch Screen shots- pic below.
  2. Drift It- allows you plot where you need to be to fish a spot OR set up anchor.
  3. Syncing with Time Zero account to TZT. Uploads all your data points and screen shots from the unit. When you get home that night you can see where you went and all the screen shots.

Thanks for the help. Yesterday I downloaded all the free charts for my area, downloaded the zip files to a 32g usb drive and plugged them into the back of the units and nothing would show up. I tried my tzt2 and tzt3. Do I need to extract the zip file onto my computer and then put the file on the usb and then into the unit? I downloaded the chart, a zip file, onto my pc computer, then I cut and pasted the zip onto the usb drive, inserted the usb into the back, turned on the units and both acted like normal, not registering the usb is in them.

Charts must be placed on the Micro SD card that is in the back of the unit. You would unzip the files on a PC and then transfer them to the Micro SD card

I am still struggling to get my TZT3 to update and connect to the internet. The latest update shows for the upload to be put on a usb reader, I did and it still is not accepting and starts up like normal. I also took the chip out of the back and downloaded the latest update and no go. The latest update says it's for usb, so I guess no surprise it didn't work with the chip in the back of the unit. Now my TZT2 looks like I got that to update to 8.01. Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

A couple of things you can check, first make sure the Thumb drive is smaller than 32GB and is formatted as FAT32 and there's nothing else on the thumb drive except the files for the update, I usually plug a thumb drive in my computer and format it before starting, that way I can make sure it's clean and in the correct format.

On the computer extract the zip files, when that's completed open the folder and just copy the contents onto the thumb drive. As soon as you open the thumb drive this is pretty much what you should see. Do not include the "NNTZT3_v3.80" folder, just all the files inside of it

Ok, I think I ended up copying the folder from my computer and pasting it onto the thumb drive. The drive is 32gb, I just got it for this. I deleted everything on the new thumb drive that came on it new, so it is clean. I will try once I get home and update. Question, once I get this update installed, should I be able to connect to future updates through wifi? I don't see on the tzt2 being able to connect to my time zero even though it looks like it took the update to that unit?

For the TZT3, yes future updates can be done through WiFi or USB, whichever you prefer.

TZT2 will not have any Wifi updates

Both units will be able to connect to Wifi for various things like free weather and saving data to the cloud.

Home > Settings > General and under Social Network settings click Log in and use your time zero log in information.
