Purchased and downloaded the BC Coast Map for the TZxl10 and was hoping it would include the various closed fishing areas preloaded.

The fishing closure areas are not on the charts. However, you can draw boundaries on the charts corelating to the Rockfish Conservation Area Maps.

Between the Rock Fish Conservation areas and Sponge Reef areas there are nearly 200 of these boundaries in British Columbia. It would be VERY VERY helpful if the charts included the boundaries. These areas are all permanent closures. The consequences for missing one fishing can be severe here.

If it is of any consolation, official CHS charts also do not show the Rockfish Conservation Areas.

I recommend the "FishingBC" app... it gives all the information and with gps on, you can see if you are in/near a conservation area (including sponge reefs).

I checked with Map Media. They are working with DFO on this and a complete catalog of MPA, RCA, Glass Sponge Reef closure areas. They are far from doing everything they have planned for the TZ Maps. Ensure that you make your normal fishing areas set as Favorites in your XL mapping catalog and when connected to Wi-Fi they will automatically be updated as the changes are pushed out. Until they are, the areas can be marked off by hand as a boundary area using the lat/lon provided in their documents.

Thanks for looking into this. This is great news. I'm looking forward to the updates.
