Airmar SS264N 50/200hz Transducer Connection to TZTXL’s

Reaching out to the Furuno knowledge base on this forum looking to see if anyone currently utilizes and has installed the Airmar 264N Transducer’s on their vessel and has any insight on the transducer’s performance before I proceed in getting this pair of 50 & 200 hz transducer’s for my upcoming upgrade. I did call Furuno customers support and discussed if the transducer would be recognized by the TZTXL10’s that I will be installing, they stated that once units were powered on with the transducer’s connected that it would recognize the transducer’s TDID and show the transducer in the TZTXL setup. If anyone has any insight on this specific subject, I would appreciate any constructive comments and advice on this subject. Thanks!

It would if considered a compatible transducer that it recognizes, but not sure it will. That transducer set is not listed in the table of the manual or those suggested/recommended under our accessories list. It seems to be pretty new product from Airmar that hasn't been added to the XL yet. It might work by using setting it as a "1KW" setting manually in the sounder configuration, but asking others here is a very good idea. You would be a bit outside the lines until it has been tested and accepted as a recommended transducer on the system.

Wondering this too. I am about to put in two 16x's that will replace a touch 2. I have the SS264N currently and it works with the touch 2 and 3 but curious if it will work with the XL's.

I had an SS264N pair a while back and it was a lousy transducer. You would do far better with a B175H or B175HW and B175L pair. I am not sure why because the B260 is a good conventional (non- CHIRP) transducer but I can attest from personal experience that the SS264N compares very unfavorably with the B175s. Something happened in the translation to tilted element of the B260.

I would have little doubt that using manual transducer configuration with the parameters of the SS264N, you can make it work with the XL. But if you are spending all the money for two TZTXL 16 units, replacing the SS264N pair with B175s would give you much better sounder performance.
