Need some clarity on the SS60-SLTD 12/20. This model is listed as being Bottom Disc compatible. My aluminum hull is less than 5* in the mounting location. Correct me if I'm wrong but this transducer is technically an Airmar SS60 correct? If this is the case, an SS60 is offered in 0* as well. Would this model be compatible with the Bottom Mode?

Separately, I spoke with a "vendor" at the Fred Hall show last night. I was told if insulated correctly I could get away with bronze. I always understood this was never recommended on aluminum. What's your take?

Digdug1221,
You are correct, the internal element in the housing is the same. The difference is the internal tilt of the element.

The main thing I have found is that you want the beam as close to vertical as you can get. The more true the beam can strike the bottom the better accuracy you will have. You really won't see much of a difference if the bottom is flat, but more as if the bottom is tilted i.e. down slope/up slope.

I prefer to use stain steel transducers with aluminum hulls.

Hope this helps, if you have more questions let us know.
