3.01 update

The good part is the USB socket is on pigtail cord out of the back of the TZT3 units, so you don't have to get to the harder to reach internal card behind the screwed-on access plate on the top.

Some have their installs using a USB extension cord from that white USB cable to someplace more accessible. Any simple USB socket extender would work, as it's just extending the port, into which you'd plug the necessary USB drive. Could be worth considering as an addition for anyone doing updates now and making it easier for any future ones. USB itself supports a max of 15' extending and I'd avoid pushing that. The socket wouldn't "have to be" directly exposed (aka waterproof and all that) but could just be wired to a point that's "less hassle" to reach while still protected inside a cabinet.

This is exactly what I did for my two 19" TZT3's - along with all of the other cables (like HDMI in and A/V) that I "may" need in the future - I have labeled extensions available without having to rip apart the console to get to the back of the devices.

Good idea on the extender, I am going to have to remove some panels to get at 2 of the 4, not to mention running a cleanly installed and zip tied wiring bundle. When I do I’ll extend those 2 USB ports by 2-3’ so I don’t need to deconstruct next time!

Radars have an update coming very soon to support the new channel mode discussed in the v3 release. Best guess is over the next 15 days. DFF3D is not receiving an update that I am aware of. All of the new feature items discussed about DFF3D in the v3 release document is done in the MFD; not the DFF3D itself.

Any more news on the radar unit updates for channel mode? It's been a month since this post.

Reading the description, I think I may be doing my own version of "channel mode" with manual settings. That's okay except that it is necessary to retune when changing range. The DRS25A-NXT/6 continues to impress everyone who goes on my boat. I had an experienced commercial fisherman out with me the other day who was looking at the radar display and asked me what the "noise" was looking at 8-10 small targets within a couple of mile range. He didn't believe that they were lobster pots visible in 1-2 foot seas at that range until we got closer and could see them visually.

Thanks.
