1150 Transducer settings help

Hi Guys,

Im new to this site and would appreciate some advice for the best settings to set my transducers. I have an 1150 with a 82B-35HR Transducer 2KW 65 - 110kHz Multi Range Freq & a 200B-8B Transducer 2KW 200kHz Rubber Housing. My transducers are flush mounted in my hull (twin hull 3100 Noosacat).

I fish 75% of the time in 180-300ft chasing bottom dwelling reef fish. The other 25% is in 600-1500ft of water chasing deeper water species.

I know this is a broad question but i would appreciate any help in getting the best out of my unit. Im chasing settings and basic understanding to what needs altered as the depth is increased.

thank you

keith.

Keith,
Your combination isn't one we have much experience here in the US, but I will try to offer a few suggestions. I like to use a screen advance of 1/1, TX power of 10 and TX Rate of 20. If I was using a CA82B-35R I would set the frequency for 88Khz and the Bandwidth to 44kHz. This will allow you to slew the frequency from 66 to 110Khz. Out of the box the 1150 TVG controls are set for 600ft which means the 1150 has reduced gain less than 600ft. If the fish you are trying to see are close to the bottom you can try shortening the Pulse Length for better resolution. Depending on your viewing conditions I like to use a black background instead of white. Another suggestion is to put the 1150 into the Demo mode, then you tweak the sounder at the dock to get a feel how the Main gain, TVG and Clutter controls all effect the picture. I hope these suggestions help.

Mate thank you.

How does the bandwidth work and effect the ability to select a range of frequencies?

Keith,
Yes, the Band Width sets the range you are able to slew (change) the frequency. The default Band Width will be 10% of the frequency you select. So if you select 50Khz the BW will be 5Khz meaning you will be slew (change) a total of 5Khz from 47.5 to 52.5Khz. The Band Width can be reset to up 50% of the selected frequency.
