1150 - SCX20. Heave / pitch and marking intermittently working

G’day Legends,

For the last year or so my 1150 unit only recognises the SCX20 intermittently.

The little heave (worm) like symbol at top of the display comes and goes. When it goes I can’t mark spots & notice the bottom change.

There seems to be no patterns when it come and goes. Not from impacts or vibrations.
It can come on for 30mins and go for 20mins.

There is a FI-5002 junction but all connections seem solid. All connected through NMEA.

Any suggestions?

Is all of the other NMEA 2000 data that the SCX-20 transmits showing up properly and stable such as SOG, heading, position, and so on? Doyou have anything else that could transmit a heave PGN such as a DFF-3D with a motion sensor in the transducer?

Check the NMEA2000 to NMEA0183 converter, by the way what converter are you using?. Also, what else is using the SCX20 data on the N2K backbone and if there are other devices.... do they have steady GPS and heading data?

My system uses has the hardware as attached.
The TZ3 unit is used with SCX20 for heading etc as does the Autopilot. No issues.

Not sure if the PBG data /recording has anything to do with the 1150 unit dropping out. Don’t think so.

I’m no Tech. Just a try hard user :).

I see you do have a DFF-3D. That will also generate heave compensation from the motion sensor in the transducer How is your FCV1150 wired for NMEA 0183 data? I don't see a NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 converter on your list but you must have one if you have an SCX-20 and not an SCX-21.

I wonder if you are getting a conflict on the network that is causing the FCV1150 to not get consistent data to do the stabilization. When you look at the "Stabilization" menu on the FCV1150, what do you see as the sensor?

The Heave sentence is proprietary, to feed data to the FCV1150 use the Furuno NMEA2000 converter model number IF-NMEA2K2
