Navpilot processor orientation?

The manual for the FAP-3012 shows it installed in a vertical orientation on a bulkhead, with the wires coming out the bottom. It indicates NOT to install with the cables up.

Does it require vertical orientation? The previous autopilot processor was in a horizontal orientation and it would be convenient to do the same for this one.

The documentation says "on a desktop or bulkhead", is if fair to assume "on a desktop" means a horizontal orientation? Flat on panel?

Otherwise all other mounting considerations are covered for this.

It can mount flat or on a bulkhead/wall. The reason they say cables down is for better water protection. Water can follow a cable directly into a unit and that isn't good.

Ok, thanks for that. It'll be flat. This is under a helm console inside the salon. If there's water in there then we have MUCH bigger issues.
