GP1871F (Which Transducer)

Looking at picking up a GP1871F and cant decide on a transducer.

I generally fish in-between 100-600ft but do troll out to and deep drop every once in awhile in 1k+ ft.

I wanted chirp originally and was looking at the TM185M but i'm worried about it not reading well in 500+ ft or even what its max depth would be. I'd imagine the TM150M would be similar just less powerful.

Do you think the P66 xducer would be the way to go? Seems boring and not sexy like the TM185M, but if it is what's going to actually get the job done I'm all for it.

Let me know, Thanks everyone.

Justfebreezeit,

I would give very serious consideration to using the 525T-PWD. This is a 600 Watt transducer that utilizes the same Airmar P66 Housing and is 50/200 kHz. This transducer can be used for the GP1871F's ACCU-FISH fish size assessment, and the Bottom Discrimination feature, that the other CHIRP transducers cannot offer.

The 525T-PWD will work for the depths that you are looking for.

Justfebreezeit,

Nope, not really an expert. Just a former boat driver from the USCG...
