TZT2 transducer selection

I need help selecting a transducer for my new unit. Boat was equipped with a navnet vx2 and dff1 with a tm260. It would randomly lose bottom both on plane and on the drift. Hooked the dff1 up to the tzt2 and it does the same thing.

I'm looking to eliminate the dff1 and use the internal sounder. I'm very interested in bottom discrimination but worry those units aren't powerful enough. Fishing out of Beaufort Inlet, NC in 20 to 2000' of water both trolling and heavy bottom fishing. Would like to stick with the transom mount if possible, but willing to do thru hull. 25ft Carolina Classic.

Barrync,
I would start by using your TM-260 just to see how it works. If you see the same performance you can then start looking where you can mount a B-260.

I couldn't get it to work directly with the TZT2 when I first installed it and had to add the DFF1 back in. Did I do something wrong I'm guessing?

Barrync,
When you plugged in the transducer to the TZT2 did you disconnect the network cable going to the DFF1? If you didn't, the TZT2 was still looking at the DFF1. Make sure that the sounder source is set to TZT2 and make sure you do the transducer setup also.
