Fcv 1150 transducer

While settings are important, also knowing how good water over the transducer can affect it's ability to display targets, specially on lower frequencies. Below is a good example using the FCV-295 and a B-275. Note that the 295 uses the same TR unit as the 1150 and the B-275 uses the same low frequency elements as the B-265. In the below screen shot, I raised the gain to show excessive clutter. The gaps in the clutter clearly illustrate the affect on how unclean water can affect target detection. Note the LF side is affected more than the HF side. The parallel lines at 80 & 120 feet are down riggers.

Everyday on the water is different. To see if turbulence is affecting a sounder performance all you need to do is to raise the gain until a lot of clutter is being displayed. If you start to see gaps and streaks appear within the clutter then you you know.
