WX200 as a backup heading sensor

Would it be acceptable to use the WX200 as a backup heading sensor for a Navpilot 300? Main heading sensor would be a SCX20. I would be using Timezero Professional with PBG, Sounder, DFF3D and Radar modules.

Thanks

I have one on my boat and it does work as a backup for my NavPilot 711C, which should mean it will work with a NavPilot300. When I tried it out, the steering performance was not as good as the SCX-20. The boat wandered a bit more around the course line but it would be fine as a temporary measure. I should note that having had an SCX-20 since March 2020, it has never failed to work properly so I doubt you will ever need to resort to the WX200 heading signal. You might want to use the Airmar Weathercaster software (if you have access to it) to set the heading data update rate on the WX200 to the highest refresh rate.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully will never need it as a backup, but I did have a GPS unit go out on me while underway, not fun.

Thanks again.
