I have a 520-5msc transducer installed in my boat and wondered if that transducer could be used with a FCV-628? Or does anyone know of any other smaller flat screen display that would work the 520-5msc transducer? I'd like to avoid the issue of dry dock time and cost if possible by having to replace the Transducer. I'm looking for one that can be mounted in my helm rather than requiring mounting it on top as is the case for my present older Fish Finder/Depth finder?

Yes, you can use that existing 520-5MSC which is a 600 watt 50/200kHz Transducer with the FCV628.
However, what you will need to purchase is a AIR-033-204 Furuno 8-Pin Transducer to 10-Pin Sounder Adapter Cable. This Adapter cable can purchased from your local Furuno Dealer within your area.
