Which Transducer?

I am looking for a transducer, preferably thru-hull for salmon and walleye fishing. Max depths will be for salmon, up to 300 fow. What would be the best transducer for this application?

What is the boat size and what is it composed of? My first thought is a wide beam chirp transducer. If you want to keep costs down a good P66 or B774V would do the job and offer accu-fish and other advanced features. While CW might not look as good as chirp many times if is better in other ways including the pocket book.

1999 Shamrock 260 Mackinaw, fiberglass. Would prefer a thru-hull transducer. Not against purchasing a ddf3d, but wasn't sure if it would be worth the extra cash outlay for my application. Thanks, Kurt.

The DFF3D would be overkill and hard to install on a boat that size without a lot of expense. Your depth needs are not great so you really don't even need 1KW of power. I would recommend the 525T-LTD (either 12 or 20 degree depending on the deadrise where mounted). That will give the 50/200 at 600 watts at a great price while giving the advanced features. If not that, then Medium Chirp SS75M (again either 12 or 20 degree). If you want to go to the high end maybe the PM265LH-12P and pocket mount the larger 1kw CHIRP into the boat.
The best bang for the buck would be the B60 type (525T-LTD).

I'd look into the B175HW Chirp transducer, very good XDR for 0' - 300' Salmon/Hake.
