Which atutopilot?

I have been reading the manuals and brochures and am more confused than before. Should I get the 700 or 711C and why? :huh

I have a sailboat with inboard motor and hydraulic steering. We have a B&G Vulcan 7 MFD and B&G sensors for depth, wind, etc. Things like course, speed, depth, wind, etc are already displayed on a smaller unit. Everything is NEMA200 and networked. We also have an emTrak type B AIS.

It looks like there are 4 differences between the two models. The 700 draws twice the power, is more expensive, has both a different (bigger) controller and a secondary display, and allows control of the buzzer volume. Is this correct and are there other differences? Why would I want the 700 instead of the 711C? :?

Lastly, I have questions about the packages as sold by Defender. Are they selling a package that includes the 700/711C? The wiring diagram shows a heading sensor as optional and it is not on the packing list, but Defender says that the header sensor is included in both.

For you the 711c is the best choice. The Navpilot 700 is for larger boats where they have lots of helm area and want a larger display. You do not lose anything going to the 711c except for the controller size. The 711c offers color over the 700 display, is a newer design, and offers a few items like Sabiki mode (not that you would use that feature). All 700 series pilots sold by Furuno USA come with the PG700 compass unless a dealer specifically orders it be removed.
