Good afternoon,

I'm reading a lot about this, but I can't find the right answer.

Where can I buy a RDP149 display to upgrade my Navnet 1 to VX2?

What's the cost of this upgrade?

Furuno USA has discontinued selling the RDP149 display unit. There are some dealers that still have stock and can get you one, but you should act quickly. You would need to discuss pricing with them. We will have parts and support for the units but having three newer NavNet series (NN3D, TZT, and TZT2) made it time to move on.

I'm purchasing a boat with a 2003 NavNet. It is located out-of-state, so I can't determine whether it has a Nave Net 1 or VX2. Do you know when the VX2 was first sold? I have to obtain C-Map charts for it. Does the unit have to be updated?
Thank you.

If the NavNet was installed new in 2003 and was never upgraded it is a NavNet 1, but you might want to confirm it before purchasing a chart.

You should also make sure it is programed for C-Map and not Navionics.

Thank you. Do you know whether there are significant differences between NavNet 1 and VX2?

The vx2 will allow you to connect an AIS. It also has a brighter screen and is slightly faster in redraw.
The vx2 also uses a SD card which has greater coverage area then was available in the old FP cards used in NavNet 1. (C-Map only)

The peripherals (radar, sounder) are the same.
